Premier League history: Manchester City makes best start




Manchester City's 3-2 victory at West Brom on Saturday meant that Pep Guardiola's team had the best start in Premier League history.

Leroy Sane and Fernandinho scored for City in the first half in Hawthorns on both sides of Jay Rodriguez's ball.

Substitute Raheem Sterling gave the Etihad team a two-goal cushion before Matt Phillips closed the gap for the hosts.

And, while they accumulated their ninth victory of the season, City also secured a place in the history books.

No team in the Premier League has had a better start to the season after 10 games.

The city's record is nine wins, one draw and a positive goal difference of 29.

In the race, Guardiola's men opened a five-point lead over their rivals, Manchester United.
