The striker broke a record that took 11 years to settle and remained for 78 years scoring against Napoli on Wednesday.

Sergio Aguero became Manchester City's all-time leading scorer with his attack on Napoli on Wednesday night. The Argentinian striker now has 178 goals for City, beating Eric Brook's record of 177. Brook scored his last goal for the club in 1939, which means that Aguero broke a record that lasted 78 years. And while Brook scored his goals in an 11-year period with City, Agüero managed to overcome it by just over six years.

Aguero tied the record with a penalty against Burnley in October and, although he converted some space in a penalty shot against the wolves in the Carabao Cup last week, did not count for his total.
But he hit Napoli after being reinstated in the starting lineup of the Champions League by manager Pep Guardiola.

With Napoli allowing the City to return to level 2-2 in the 62nd minute, Agüero restored his team's lead seven minutes later with a great exit from inside the box after a counter-attack.
He launched his City scoring two goals in his debut against Swansea City in August 2011, and finished his first season in England scoring perhaps the most spectacular goal in league history. the winner of the last breath against Queens Park Rangers who got the first title of Blues since 1968.
It was his thirtieth goal in all competitions this season, and he scored at least 28 goals in five of his six full seasons in England.

Last season under Guardiola, he scored 34 times in all competitions, more than he scored in a single campaign under Roberto Mancini or Manuel Pellegrini.
He started the current campaign by needing eight goals to tie Brook's record and nine to beat him, and he reached it in his first 11 appearances.
